Carefree

This is my April portrait (although it might not be so obvious given its composition, hah)!  I've decided that sticking strictly to putting things in my hair/on my head is less important than eliciting a feeling, so I opted to wear my prop(s) (Mardi Gras necklaces sent to me by a friend who lives in NOLA) just somewhere on my body.

My previous three portraits have all been *SUPER SERIOUS*, so I wanted to depart from that because a) I'm usually pretty silly and derp unapologetically and b) I love color*!  I didn't want my entire series to be various frozen images of my face from different angles, and I decided it was high time I add some movement.  This photo was definitely inspired by the line, "Spinning like a girl in a brand new dress..." from Taylor Swift's "Holy Ground" as well as pretty much the entirety of her song "Red".  I've also been listening to 5 Seconds of Summer's "She Looks So Perfect" a lot, and that definitely contributed to my desire to be playful in this picture.  Also, yesterday (when this was taken) was beautiful and warm and then the setting sun provided the most phenomenal lighting and is it obvious yet what my favorite weather and time of day are?

*This was actually from my second attempt at taking my April portrait; the first time, I was indoors on a rainy day.  Grey lighting + rainbow beads + a bright dress = a very confusing mix, in my opinion.  I wasn't sure if I should be serious because of the weather or try to be playful anyway, but it's kind of hard to be playful inside my house without knocking something over.  So, I was trying these dramatic poses on my bed and it was awful, haha.  That entire set got deleted before it ever reached my computer.
