I don't remember how I discovered Lindsey Stirling; all I know is that it happened at the beginning of this past summer. The first video I saw of hers was We Found Love, and after watching it, I absolutely fell in love with her. (Hello biggest girlcrush since Emma Watson...)
Lindsey is magical and beautiful, and I'd been planning to draw her for a long time now. (I have so many different screenshot references of her from multiple music videos, but the problem is that she seems to get prettier with every video!) I LOVED her makeup/hairstyle in a scene from her Phantom of the Opera medley (www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCL94-…
and finally decided to use one of the scenes featuring it as my reference. I didn't keep track of how long this took me, but my guess is LONG. Probably around 10 hours, maybe more. Sharpie and pencil portraits always take me the longest because I have to figure out how many distinct shades of grey I want to use. In this, I kind of ditched my usual approach of saying, "Okay, I want __x__ many shades of grey, so this area will be this shade, that area will be that shade, etc." I like how it turned out, though - sometimes having just one shade in one spot can look too flat but having two distinct ones would look too blocky.
ALSO, I GET TO MEET HER TODAY BECAUSE I HAVE VIP TICKETS TO HER SHOW AND I'M GOING TO SHOW IT TO HER AND ASK HER TO SIGN IT AND I AM SO EXCITED CAN YOU TELL
...And because I was frantically trying to finish this, I have not started my homework for tomorrow yet. #priorities
